Field Trip - LiL' STEAMers Engineering Challenge Day

Suggested Grades: Kindergarten to Grade 2
Suggested Time: 5.5 hours + 30min lunch break
Class of: 25 students (email for pricing of larger groups)
Students will learn and explore:
- Learn about the Simplified Engineering Design Process (Ask, Imagine, Plan, Create, Test)
- Work with and communicate ideas in a group or with partners
- Use critical thinking skills to solve various design challenges
- Safe use practices of materials and tools (scissors, glue, tape, etc)
Activities:
- Boat Building Challenge (Principles of Buoyancy): Students will be challenged to build a boat structure out of recycled materials. Each team will strive to engineer a boat that can hold the most weight.
or
- Ping Pong Ball Madness (Principles of Form, Function, and Physics): Students will be challenged to build a ping pong ball track from recycled materials. Each group will strive to engineer the tallest and longest successful track.
